Zigzag

Our team spoke, and we listened

After working from home the past 18 months, we've decided to make it official.

From today on, Devetry will be a hybrid workforce.

What do we mean when we say “hybrid?”

To us, a hybrid workplace means that everyone at Devetry will have the opportunity and the flexibility to work in the way that works best for them, whether that be in the office, remote, or a mix of the two.

How did we arrive here?

We thought about remote vs office vs hybrid for a while. We knew that our team kicked a** during the lockdown, cranking out excellent design and development work for our partners. However, we knew that office interaction can have a positive impact on people's day-to-day. Ultimately, here's how we arrived at our current hybrid solution:

  • We listened to what our team wants
  • This is where the world is going (at least the tech world)
  • It's better for pretty much everyone and thing involved: our people, the company, and the environment

Everyone at Devetry will have the opportunity and the flexibility to work in the way that works best for them.

Advantages

  • The flexibility to choose the work environment that best suits our team's wants and needs
  • If you want to explore a new home base, remote work makes it so that you can do so

Areas of Focus

Our main area of focus is to uphold our culture of learning. We're going to be more Intentional about building project teams, ensuring we have senior support. We believe this will help every team member communicate, problem-solve, and learn from one another.

We will also focus on things like:

  • Expanding Lunch & Learns
  • Mentorship time
  • Continued focus on professional development hours + learning programs calendar

Our second area of focus is cultural events.

Not being in office means we will be missing out on some of those random interactions, so we want to create more of this for those that desire it.

We’re going to continue hosting live events and balance those with virtual ones.

While Denver will remain our hub, we will also create opportunities for out-of-state team members to come in for events.

This last year and a half have taught us that we can be productive and have a healthy work-life balance. So why not work towards that as times get back to normal? We believe making this change will keep us in step with our mission of creating a people-first software company.
